Our Hobbies

We have many different things that we consider to be our hobbies. So I will try to make a list of all the things I do, and tell why I like doing them.

Banjos: Paul has always wanted to play the banjo. He has finally bought one. Yeah for him, not so yeah for me. It's not that it's bad, just he doesn't practice as often as he should and trying to vacuum around the banjo without scratching is getting nerve wracking!

Camping: Camping is a relaxation tool for me. It's nice for me to "get back to nature." You see when Paul and I first got together, we lived in a 8' x 16' shack with no electricity and no running water. WE LOVED IT! We had some of our best times at that shack. We still own it, but due to my lupus we felt it necessary to rejoin civilization until we could afford to put in the electricity and water out at the land. So now, when we get the chance we will spend time out there. It's nice not being strapped down to any time schedule (other than nature's) and to be able to hear the crickets chirp and the birds sing.

Cooking: Let's see, why do I enjoy cooking. Well, it's one way for me to show my love to my family and friends. I "cook with Love" or so I have been told. I think about the person (or persons) I am cooking that meal for and I know that when we sit down to eat together they are getting a nutritious and tasty meal. Besides, getting to always be the taste tester is a plus!

Dancing: Wnen my lupus allows, Paul and I will go dancing. We don't get to do it much anymore as I have had more bad then good days lately. Dancing is a great exercise by the way!

Genealogy: People ask me all the time "Laurie, why do you care about what a person who has been dead for 100 years did when they were alive?" My response: "If it wasn't for those dead people, I wouldn't be here today!"

Motorcycles: Paul is a motorcycle freak. Let me tell you about all the magaziness I have in my living room (and I mean piles of them!) Ha Ha! But really, he is in the process of customizing his first bike. I am so proud of him. Now if he would only get he gas tank, head lights, seat and speedometer system out of my livingroom!
